NY Resolution - 5 running days a week with one long run - 10 + miles and build gradually from there.  I can't run long runs too close together yet, as I found out today.  I finished the run but was pushing it!  So it just takes time to increase mileage - and consistency.

So I continue with my resolution to run 6 times a week - the long run yesterday.  I was tired at the end of the run today, but kept on and finished.  From here - lose weight!!!  Better for the joints and risk factor for alot of disease.  I am not getting younger - just keeping active to stay healthy!!!

I ran later in the day - so it was pleasant.  My legs felt like rubber at about mile 3 so I walked a few paces - amazing how that helped.  I am going with this 6 day a week thing - we will see - so far all I feel is much more energized.  That says alot. A touch of neck pain that I attribute to tensing up - yoga on Friday!  Of course, I have no speed yet - well, for me, I have more speed than I had.  Just put one foot in front of the other...  I want to get more sleep - 7 hours would be better if it was 8!  Eating the right foods - that is getting easier also, I just can't think of pigging out.

Better sleep.  Ran 2 early AM and three after lunch, feel much stonger today.  Tired now, so AM running is better for sleeping. Also, running more often  - 6 times/week - is seeming to be much better for endurance if today's running is the result - will have to start timing myself - but felt fast today.

Played 3 sets of tennis - no run.  A little off today - must be that wine I drank last night at friend's birthday party.  Clearly that is off limits - too flaky this morning...

Weight - all over the place.  Played tennis this AM - decided this could count as walking some miles but I'm not counting any sports as miles.  I ran 2 on the treadmill this PM 1stmile 11 and second mile 9:30.  The second mile was very hard but shows I can do it faster.  Why it is so difficult I do not know...Could be age...

First 6 day run week of the year and it is so much better.  I was a little fatigued before I went out to run and some of the run was a push, but by the end I felt better.  Must be my no sleep night last night.  Well, off to reread Heart of Darkness.  This Caitlin's (daughter) exam week and maybe we can have a fun discussion about it!!!  Or not.

Long run but worth it. Beautiful day to run - about 60 with a very light rain - drizzle.  Almost got rear-ended by a bike, but he swerved so we didn't collide - bad thing about no hearing anything with the ipod. 

I read a study that says that women need to run at least 29 miles/week or do aerobic exercise for 45-60 minutes/5 days a week to lose weight.  Well, I am the perfect case study - 5-6 days a week at least 5 miles with one long run.  Plan on staying the course - NY resolution.  Determined to be fitter when Cait graduates from high school on May 21 that when Kirsten graduated from the same school 10 years ago!!!!! And training for a half marathon that happens in 5 weeks.

5 on the treadmill - averaged 11 minutes - pushed and then slower.  I will get there - losing the pounds I have gained back - but this time it has to be permanent!!!  So - 6 days/ running and decrease my times are the goals.

Treadmill again - worked late and didn't want to run outside in the dark - went to yoga and then ran - a little backward maybe.  Hard run again - late is not good I guess. Aiming for early tomorrow.

Activity filled day - tennis in AM, garden installation (OK, I supervised the install), ran 5 at 11 minute miles, then this evening I did a cross-training dance exercise class called Dance Trance.  Great workout to loud, fun music.  Race (5K) on Saturday...

Very exciting  -  a perfect race day.  Great weather (40) and felt great.  This was a PR for me - at this age anyhow.  Long, long ago, I did run abit (alot) faster.  Reading this running blog and seeing how hard everyone works and being inspired by the incredible dedication to running has made me get going.  Thanks to all!!!

Had a nice lunch after with my husband and then had to buy a new clothes dryer - ours no longer worked and was 18 years old.  Sticker shock - but can't run in wet clothes!

Lon slow run.  Nice relaxed no neck stress today - I am trying hard to keep this at bay - got into trouble a while ago - neck tension when I tried to do too much.  It seems okay.

Cold (40) for here today - very enjoyable weather for a run.  Going along minding my own business - great song on ipod - and splat, I'm on the ground.  Great save because my face and teeth didn't get it.  So much for the relaxed run - hobbled for a minute and then back at it.  Only a skinned knee and elbow, but I am a little nervous because we are travelling to Massachusetts this weekend for Bob's mother's 90th birthday and I haven't run in the snow and ice for years.  Maybe because I got the fall out of the way, I'm okay...

Walked today - 2 plus hours.  Too afraid to run around the area that Bob's uncle has his office = near a major hway so not sure where I was going  and did get a little lost....

I was very surprised, my run in 20 degree weather was great.  I was frozen so that made it easier!

Crappy run - too hot today -75 - my last run it was 15, and I liked 25 better.  I think I was slightly dehydrated,,,,,

5 on treadmill - rainy day.  Fastest was a 9.50 minute and could do it for .25 miles.  Tomorrow try again.  Averaged 11/minute miles.

Another difficult to like run.  Basically, I hate the treadmill.  I need a new attitude - the treadmill is my friend.  I just barely got through the run - either due to fatige, boredom or not eating enough - but I am annoyed that the weight is coming off so slow!!!  But I did sit in the hottub and use my bucky for my neck - so that was a positive.   And the weight is coming off slow.y - also positive - maybe it means it will stay off?
